Ľudo
Lehen is s Slovakian art painter.
This
web presentation, (site) has been created on the occasion of his 80th
birth anniversary and its objective is to introduce this spectacular man,
graphic artist, chess composer, keen storyteller, as well as a passionate
admirer of women and nature to the general public.
In his youth, at the beginning of his carrer,
some inevitable moments struck his life having been the reason of his
long-life “isolation”.
In the years, when every young artist has strong desire to fully enjoy
their life and be creative, his life suddenly took a different course.
He became a victim of an unfair political court typical for the communist
Czechoslovakia back to the 50’s of the last century. He spent 6 years
in the prison. Surprisingly, his first two exhibitions took place there.
However when he came back from the jail it was a different Ľudo Lehen.
He remained an artist but he had built up his own universe, where he painted,
as he says “just for himself”. At the present time he lives in the largest
city area of Bratislava - Petržalka. His flat is his studio and sometimes
an exhibition room at the same time. The centre of his art space is woman.
Sometimes she is getting a shape of daughter; sometimes she is having
the face of Venus or a girl in traditional clothing. The figures are stylized
and depict some archaic elements present in Non European art.
